Day 9 - Las Vegas to Bass Lake

7.45am to the coach today, which was easy for us because we got 6 or so hours sleep...can’t say the same for all the overagers though. As soon as we were on the bus, almost all of them were asleep. One guy got on in the suit that he went out in last night. I’m 100% positive that he didn’t actually come home last night. Some others I’m sure were still drunk from the night before. Pretty funny actually.
The first few hours of the ride were quiet. I don’t think the group has ever been that silent. Everyone was asleep. The new people on tour probably think we’re a super boring Contiki group now. WRONG.
At about 10.30 we stopped for some food. Since all the others were hungover, and no one had eaten before we left, we were all super hungry. Andy took us to in-n-out burger which was cool since I’ve seen that on T.V. They only have three options on the menu (with all the calories available to see of course) which actually makes it really easy to choose what to have. It tasted a bit like hungry jacks but better. Not as greasy, maybe? Still bad for you though. But yummy fatty goodness all the same.
After that we headed back on the road and Andy made us play another introduction game to get to know the newbies. I don’t actually remember anyone’s name of the new people so that was a fail. We stopped at a supermarket to stock up on some goodies and water. Of course I dropped a whole carton in the middle of an isle and it spilt allllllll over the floor. Awkward for me.
A few hours later we arrived at Bass Lake! Back in California, Bass Lake is a small campsite with a lake (duh) and a pool and tennis courts. Quite a different setting to Vegas! It’s so nice here. We are all in quad share cabins. We’re with two English girls who are lovely.
We all went down to the pool and chilled in the sun (the pool was actually freezing) then had a pizza and karaoke party with everyone. It was really fun to be able to chill with everyone again, since there’s nowhere for them to go out here. Once everyone had a little sing, we went onto the beach for a bonfire and made our first ever smores (toasted marshmallow, chocolate and two gram crackers)! Deliciousness.
